Finished paver driveway in Sanford FL with a charcoal border, clustered palm trees, and a rock bed of tropical plants

Paver Driveway, Artificial Turf, Paver Patio, Fire Pit, Plant Design

Sanford, FL

November 2026

One of these Sanford yards starts at the street. The other starts at the back door. For the first home, we built a full paver driveway and new palm and plant beds out front. For the second, we rebuilt the backyard around artificial turf, a paver patio, and a stone fire pit. Two properties, two very different jobs, and one crew handling every piece of the landscape design in Sanford from the first sketch to the last plant.

We put them on the same page on purpose. A lot of homeowners assume they need a paver company for the driveway, a turf company for the backyard, and someone else entirely for the plants. You can do it that way. But then you are the one coordinating three schedules, and nobody owns the spot where the pavers meet the grass. At Citrus Landscape Solutions, we handle hardscape, turf, sod, and planting under one roof, so the seams get as much attention as the showpiece. That is a big part of how we approach landscaping in Sanford.

Here is what went into each one.

Tan and gray paver driveway with a charcoal soldier course border beside fresh sod in Sanford FL

What Makes a Paver Driveway Worth It in Sanford?

A paver driveway is worth it when you want a surface that looks finished from the street and can be repaired one piece at a time instead of replaced. That second part matters more than people think.

On this brick home, the driveway runs from the street all the way to a two car garage and a gray privacy fence with a gate. We laid a tan and gray blend in a mixed size pattern. The mix hides tire marks and the slow color shift that comes with years of Florida sun far better than a single flat color would. Then we framed the whole field with a charcoal soldier course along both edges and across the street end. It looks sharp, sure, but its real job is to lock the pavers in so they do not creep toward the lawn every time a car turns on them. You can read more about our approach to hardscapes if you are weighing pavers against concrete.

The driveway was only half the curb appeal. Tall clustered palms already stood near the street, so we built a new bed around their trunks with river rock and low, red leafed tropicals. Everything there stays short on purpose. Anyone backing out still has a clear view of the road, and the color sits at eye level where you actually see it. That kind of call is what good plant design comes down to. On the other side of the drive, a strip of new sod keeps the front yard balanced so it does not read as all stone.

Artificial turf backyard under a mature oak in Sanford FL with a paver patio, French doors, and a stone fire pit

Is Artificial Turf a Good Choice for a Shady Sanford Backyard?

Usually, yes. When a big oak shades most of the yard, real grass thins out and turns to bare dirt and mud, while turf stays green whether it gets two hours of sun or ten.

That was exactly the problem behind this turquoise home. A mature live oak throws shade across a huge part of the lot for most of the day. Sod would have been a fight every single summer. So we went with artificial turf from the back fence line up to the patio, and we left a natural mulch ring around the base of the oak instead of running turf right up to the trunk. The tree keeps breathing. The yard stays usable for kids and dogs, even after one of those afternoon storms.

Along the back of the house, a wide paver patio ties both sets of French doors together, so stepping outside feels like you never left the living room. A round stone fire pit sits on the left end of the patio, close enough to the doors that carrying drinks out is easy. Near the middle, a raised planter box dresses up the base of the utility pole that every homeowner wishes was somewhere else. Small plantings in white rock run along the foundation, and a horizontal wood privacy fence closes in the side yard. It is a backyard built for evenings, not just for photos.

Why Hire One Landscape Team for the Front and Back Yard?

Because one team that plans the whole property gets the details right where the pieces meet, and you only have one phone number to call.

Look at these two jobs side by side. One is mostly hardscape with a planting bed. The other is mostly turf with a patio and a fire pit. Different homes, different budgets, different reasons for calling us. What they share is the planning. On both, we thought about how the space gets used every day first: where cars turn, where the shade falls, where people will actually sit. The materials came second. That order is the core of solid landscape design, and it is why the driveway does not look like a parking pad and the backyard does not look like a turf sample.

It also saves time. When the same crew sets the pavers and installs the turf or sod beside them, nobody waits on another contractor to show up and finish the edge. If your project starts at the curb, behind the house, or both, we will walk the property with you, talk through materials, and put together a clear quote you can actually compare.
